Length of Residency

You can use this service to obtain an estimate of how long an occupant has lived at a particular address.

Target the right prospects, manage risks

People who have lived in their home for an extended period are likely to:

  • Have different needs from people who recently moved into a new home
  • Be more stable and less risky
  • Be considering a move or home sale
  • Be less likely to be renovating.

You can use this information to help you:

  • Create product offerings that are suited to the needs of different prospects
  • Make decisions on churn
  • Increase cross-sell opportunities
  • Create retention strategies.

How it works

We use the following sources for Length of Residency estimates:

  • Telephone directories
  • Electoral roll data (pre-June 2004 extract)
  • Valuer General's Office Data on real estate transactions

How to use the service

You will require a valid residential address, postcode and State, with DPID if available. If your database doesn't include DPID's for residential addresses, we can supply software to remedy this before you use the service.

You will receive information added to each matching customer record to show the relevant length of residency. Each household is allocated to one of seven bands that indicate how long the residents have occupied a home:

1 6 months
2 > 6 - 12 months
3 > 1 - 2 years
4 > 2 - 3 years
5 > 3 - 5 years
6 > 5 - 10 years
7 10+ years

Cost

The price of appending Length Of Residency to your database will depend on the volume of records you would like update or whether you would like to license the variable for internal use and analysis.  Length of Residency can also be purchased as a filter when selecting a target market for specific marketing campaigns.
