Vantage seminar rates highly amongst local councils
13 October 2004
On Thursday 2 September 2004 Baycorp Advantage held its first Vantage seminar in Rotorua, New Zealand. The Vantage seminars have been developed in combination with the recently launched mini website as valuable resources to assist Baycorp Advantage clients in growing their businesses.
The seminars have been designed as educational forums to discuss ideas and approaches to add value to clients’ businesses and the topic for the first seminar focused on the collection of rates arrears – an issue councils face on a daily basis. The forum provided a great opportunity for local councils to discuss a variety of solutions to similar situations with their peers and gain invaluable insight into what is becoming an increasingly difficult area for local councils.
Forty clients from local councils spanning as far north as Whangerei to as far south Marton in the lower half of the North Island, attended the September seminar. Guest speakers included Carol Smith from the Maori Land Courts based in Rotorua who spoke about the issues surrounding rates collection from Maori land and Christine Mans from the Waitomo District Council who enlightened delegates on the fresh approach WDC undertook to successfully turnaround their escalating rates arrears issue.
Based on the success and positive feedback from customers who attended the first seminar, Baycorp Advantage will be looking to roll out future seminars to other parts of the country. The next seminar is scheduled for the 24 November 2004 in Christchurch. This seminar will run for two days - the first day building on the content discussed during the Rotorua seminar followed by a second day focusing on tools designed to assist customers in ‘Selecting & Managing Valuable Customers’.
