A vehicle is the second most expensive investment most people make. In recognition, Baycorp Advantage has launched a promotional campaign in New Zealand for its vehicle background checking services 'MotoChek' and 'AutoCheckPlus', to assist consumers, car buyers, and retailers prevent the purchase of a stolen or liability ridden motor vehicle.

Every fifteen minutes a vehicle is stolen from somewhere in New Zealand – a total of almost 100 cars per day* disappear from public parking lots, apartment carports, and residential driveways.

Private non-dealer sales of vehicles are not effectively covered by consumer rights laws. 'MotoChek' and 'AutoCheckPlus' allow motor vehicle consumers and industry participants certainty that what they are investing in is actually what they are being provided with.

"We are confident that 'MotoChek' and 'AutoCheckPlus' will put the power back into the hands of the consumer and assure them that their major vehicle investment is sound, by providing market valuation, registration details, any outstanding debt owed and clear previous owner history of the purchase,"
said John Roberts, NZ Country Director for Baycorp Advantage.

"For peace of mind, it's imperative to do a little investigative work before you buy, trade or arrange finance for a second-hand automobile. As a subscriber to our services, there's no need to waste time with a number of sources when you can get all the information you need from AutoCheckPlus," Roberts added.

These automotive products offered by Baycorp Advantage also support industry initiatives run by government agencies. The Ministry of Consumers Affairs has a campaign focusing on encouraging consumers buying a used car from a car yard, car market, car fair or auction to look for and read the  Supplier Information Notice (SIN) or window card.

The Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), in conjunction with New Zealand Police and the Ministry of Transport, has developed a new Vehicle Crime Reduction Programme  (VCRP). The programme is designed to reduce opportunistic and professional vehicle crime. Making parking facilities safer and improving collection of vehicle theft data.
