| On May 5 2004, the New Zealand credit and finance industry celebrated its professionals and their achievements at an inaugural award ceremony held in Auckland. With over six years’ experience in the credit industry, Malcolm Anderson from Bunnings Ltd was named the 2003 Credit Professional of the Year, and Jaydy Crook from Direct Cash Orders was named the 2003 Young Credit Professional of the Year. Jaydy Crook commented: “I am delighted to have received this prestigious award and with the support of Baycorp Advantage and the NZCFI, I believe this annual award will successfully showcase the talents of individuals in the credit industry and increase the overall level of professional development.” The announcement of the NZCFI Credit Professional of the Year award is a further step by the NZCFI to promote the professionalism and knowledge required to effectively work in the credit arena. It follows on from the recent launch of two national certificates on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority framework; the National Certificate in Credit Administration and the National Certificate in Credit Management. Peter Sheerin, International General Manager, Baycorp Advantage, said of the event: “Baycorp Advantage was proud to be the major sponsor of this awards event which provided a great opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of credit professionals and in turn, to enhance the profile of the credit and finance industry as a whole.” All candidates underwent a rigorous selection process with a judging panel led by Graham Pomeroy, National President of the NZCFI, and supported by Peter Sheerin, International General Manager for Baycorp Advantage, NZCFI board members Karen Kaa and David Young, and Paul Stewart from TMI as the independent judge. The criteria for this year’s awards along with submission dates and general information will be released in August 2004 on-line via the www.nzcfi.org or www.baycorpadvantage.com websites.
